We scan most photos using an Epson V750 Pro scanner. For larger photos we photograph them using the same process as we do with our art reproduction services.

EPSON V750 PRO SCANNER
The Epson V750 Pro is a great, versatile scanner. We use it for scanning smaller prints up to about 8x10. This is what we mostly use when people bring us a box of old photos, magazines, or documents to digitize. We also use it for scanning 35mm negatives and slides when only a screen resolution is needed, meaning that you don’t want super high resolution for printing purposes, you just want to be able to view them and share them with family and friends.
NIKON SUPER COOLSCAN 9000 ED
The Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED is the “big brother” of the 5000. Whereas the 5000 is our go to for high resolution scans of 35mm negatives or slides, the 9000 is our go to for medium format film scans. It’s hard to find scan quality as good as this scanner does outside of significantly more expensive drum scanners. If you have medium format film you need scanned and you want the most detail out of it that we can get then this is the scanner we’ll use.
NIKON SUPER COOLSCAN 5000 ED
The Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED is a high quality, 35mm dedicated film scanner. This is our go to when you need high resolution scans of your 35mm negatives (color or black and white) or slides. It does a great job of getting detail and sharpness out of your film. Though they were discontinued back in 2009, they are still highly sought after and used by people who still shoot film or wish to digitize their old film from years past. That’s a testament to how good they are.
NIKON D810 CAMERA
The Nikon D810 is a professional grade, high resolution DSLR. This is what we use for all of our art reproduction services. We also use this when people bring us old photos to restore or archive that are larger than the Epson V750 scanner can handle (larger than 8x10). It also does a great job of digitizing 35mm negatives and slides at higher resolution than our scanners (though the don’t necessarily get more detail), so we will sometimes use it if particularly high resolution is needed from your film.
