TERMS & CONDITIONS
READ THE FINE PRINT
Please review these details before ordering. By sending or bringing us an order you agree to these terms.
Turnaround Times: Standard turnaround time for paper prints is 3-5 business days, canvas is 5-7 business days, and art digitizing is 5-7 business days. Production time doesn’t start until we have your order in full and are waiting on nothing from you to begin printing. Please note that this is standard turnaround, which means that turnaround times can and will fluctuate. Sometimes we slow down when we are particularly busy and other times we get it done faster. Larger orders (orders with large prints or quantities above 10) will often take longer than our standard turnaround time. If we are out of the office for any period of time then the turnaround time will not begin until we are back in the office. If we discuss a turnaround time but the order isn’t placed at that time then it’s possible the time could’ve changed depending upon how much work we got in the meantime. Rush services are sometimes available for a rush fee when time permits. We are always happy to work with you on deadlines when we can so if you are in a time crunch please get in touch and let us know your deadline ahead of time. But please remember, we are a quality centric business so It is more important to us to do a good job than to be fast. Production turnaround times are not guaranteed.
Online Orders: If you place an order though our website via the Place An Order page then a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you used in the order form. If you don’t see it then we recommend first checking your spam folder as the emails often go there. Sometimes email addresses are accidentally typed incorrectly which means both that you won’t get a confirmation email and our emails to you will go to that incorrect email address. If you haven’t received a confirmation email or don’t get a response from us acknowledging the order within a few days then please reach out to us to make sure your order went through.
Order Cancelation: When you submit our online form on the Place An Order page, send us an email requesting prints, or bring us work to our shop in person, you’ve placed and order and it will go into production. If you have questions or would like to discuss anything before placing an order then please feel free to contact us directly via email and send any files you’d like us to check out. When the online form on the Place An Order Page is submitted your order will be printed and we’ll send you an invoice once it is complete. You’ll be responsible for paying that invoice.
Copyright Protection and Image Ownership: By sending us an order in any form you affirm that you own the rights to any images you send or have permission from the copyright holder to have the work printed. Copyright infringement is serious and illegal. All original work is immediately protected by copyright in the US, even if it’s something you found online. You may use any work that’s specifically listed in the public domain, but an online search is not automatically public domain. An image posted to a website or social media is not automatically in the public domain. Imaging Arts Printing won’t be held responsible for copyright infringement on any images you send us for printing. You are responsible for anything you send us for reproduction.
Print Proofs and Color Matching: If you have concerns about how the color/brightness/contrast/etc. of your print will come out then we suggest first ordering a small test print before placing your final order. No work will be refunded or redone if you didn’t first order and review a proof print. Monitors can vary significantly in how they show color. If you haven’t properly calibrated yours then you’re not seeing accurate color (read more about that here). We won’t reprint your order if your color isn’t what you expected and you did not first order a proof.
When it comes to prints from original art, you will always get the best color fidelity in print by having us create the digital file in our studio and having prints made for the first time while we still have the original painting in our shop. While our normal process gets things very close, there are differences in the way papers themselves show color (different brightness levels, different white points, different black points, etc.), so if we have the original work in our possession then we can make any necessary fine tune adjustments for your specific paper at that time. It’s worth noting that if you decide to go with a different paper/canvas for future prints then you can expect some slight changes as that’s the nature of printing on different papers. It’s always worth having a test print made on a new paper before making a large print run. We will not redo or refund orders printed from other people’s files if you didn’t first order a proof print.
The world of color we see and paint in doesn’t perfectly align with the world of color we print it. What we will do is tell you that we will give you a good file that is a reasonable match to your original. Does this mean that it will look drastically different from your original? No, definitely not! You don’t have to worry about your reds coming out blue. It means that there will simply be some variation in your prints relative to the original, that’s just part of the process. If you want your prints to look as close to your originals as possible then it’s crucial that you bring your originals to us to be digitized. While we can print from files created by you or someone else, the file creation process is the most crucial step for making sure the brightness, contrast, sharpness, and colors look as faithful to the original as possible. If we did not create the file then we have no control over the color information contained in that file and thus can’t be responsible for any color inaccuracies.
Imaging Sizing and Borders: When you order a print it does not automatically include borders unless you specifically ask for them. Please specify if you want the border to be added in addition to the printed size you ordered or if you’d like the printed area sized down such that the border is included in the print size you ordered. If you don’t specify then we will default to including the border in the overall print size you ordered (ex. if you order an 8×10 and ask for a border then the overall print, inclusive of the border, will be 8×10).
Print Longevity: We use archival inks and offer archival certified papers. And while that indicates the potential for prints to last a very long time, there is no guarantee on how long prints will last. It’s very important to understand that what you do with the prints after getting them from us will have more impact on how they last than anything we do. For this reason, paper manufacturers and groups offering archival certification do not offer any guarantees about paper, ink, or print longevity. Prints must be properly framed and displayed in conditions that avoid direct sunlight, heat, humidity, etc. If you are concerned with your prints lasting as long as possible then make sure to store them properly and have them professionally framed behind glass that adequately blocks UV light.
Payments and Invoicing: We only accept online payment (no cash or checks) and will send over an invoice to be paid online when your order is complete. While you are welcome to pay the invoice early, you’re not required to pay the invoice before you pick up the finished work. Payment is due upon pickup.
Art Digitizing and File Backups: When we create digital files of your original work we will send you those files via a Dropbox link. We have to clear up space in our Dropbox folder regularly so it is your responsibility to save and back up your files. While we will not delete your files from our local backups (we just remove them from Dropbox so we have the space to continue sharing files), you still must save your files on your end. We don’t offer file backup services. We cannot be responsible for lost files that you didn’t download when shared with you and the Dropbox link we share with you is not a backup. Please be certain to save and backup your images.
Image Content: We reserve the right to refuse to print anything including but not limited to: sexually graphic nudity or pornography, work we find offensive, anything illegal. We are art centric printers, so nudity alone isn’t disqualifying. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to clarify.
Office Availability: We are available in person at our office by appointment. You can set up an appointment here. Our appointment system helps to ensure that we’re available to you when you come by and makes sure we have enough time to get all of our work done. If you come by without an appointment then we may be unavailable to help you at the time.
Communication Preference: Our main and official method of communication is via email. Having things in writing ensures we have something we can reference to help make sure we get everything right the first time. It’s very important that you make sure you’ve put your correct email address into any online forms you use to contact us so that we’re able to communicate back. Please be sure to check your email, including spam folder and trash, to be sure you’ve gotten any necessary communication from us.
Abandoned Property: Anything left at our office over 60 days after the work is complete (or drop off if no work was completed) will be considered abandoned and we may dispose of it. This includes original art, prints, posters, photographs, frames, art materials, prints we’ve made for you, print orders you paid for but didn’t pick up, personal property unrelated to business, or anything else you’ve left behind. We will first attempt to contact you via email to let you know it needs to be picked up, but after 60 days you agree that we may dispose of it. We don’t have much extra space for things to be sitting in.
